September 2026 Minutes (DRAFT)

Minutes of Ordinary Meeting held on 1st September, 2026

  1. Councillor Charmaine Smith chaired the Ordinary monthly meeting with Cllrs. P Chapman, N Osborne, A Vogel, J Hodgson, County Cllr. Nicky Chopak, Mrs D Turner (Clerk) and one member of the public attending.

  2. Apologies

    Apologies received from Cllrs. S. Smith and K Anderton.

  3. Declarations of Interest/Dispensations

    No declarations in respect of this Agenda.

  4. Minutes

    The minutes had been sent to all Councillors and were read agreed and signed.

  5. Balance at Bank

    It was reported that the balance in the Current a/c is £17,026.69 and in the Solar a/c £5885.41.

  6. Planning Application No PA26/05347

    Change of use from holiday accommodation to garden room, gym/studio and including retained shower room to use incidental to dwelling known as Sunnyside. Councillors support this Application but would like a condition put on that the property is incidental to the main dwelling and cannot be sold separately.

  7. Cornwall Council

    Changes to Planning Committees - Online Teams meeting to be held on 23rd September, 2026

  8. Planning Application PA26/03095

    Cottage Farm, Jacobstow – Cornwall Council refused this. Application No PA25/06108 – Cottage Farm – Approved by Cornwall Council

  9. Planning Application No PA26/03083

    Old School House, Jacobstow – Tree felling refused by Cornwall Council.

  10. Footpaths

    Broken gate and other details discussed. Cllr. Chopak to contact Cornwall Council to get a new gate.

  11. Various Emails

    Various Emails received from residents discussed.

    1. 20mph in Jacobstow cannot be seen properly,
    2. Bonfires at Wainhouse Corner on a hot sunny day causing bad smells.
    3. Cars parked at Wainhouse Corner outside the flats causing problems for cars coming off the A39 onto the Canworthy Water road.
    4. Caravan Airbnb.

  12. Clerk’s Salary

    It was agreed to pay the Clerk’s Salary. Proposed Cllr. Chapman Seconded Cllr Vogel.

  13. Councillor matters

    1. Clerk to get prices of seats for the Parish.
    2. It was reported that properties at New Mills, Week St. Mary do not trim their hedges making visibility difficult. Report this to Highways to investigate.
